The New York International Fringe Festival August 16 - 25 (Times Vary) Choreography and Music by Tony Silva
In Toomai, based on Rudyard Kipling's "Toomai of the Elephants," a tiny boy faces the challenge of maneuvering an elephant many times his size. (Listen) Duets for Small Spaces (world premiere) is a series of four short dances that can barely be contained in their 12' x 12' box of rope. These deeply personal dances range from romantic to adversarial, from calm to high-flying. Hunger brings together dance, video, props and ethereal music in a pseudo-Butoh, multimedia fairy tale, complete with an evil witch and poisoned fruit. (Listen) In Rush! five dancers pace the stage with frenetic drive, then melt into a day dream and awaken into a world of harmony, connection and finally flight. (Listen) Videos by Sylvio Facchín and Sharon Marroquín are shown as interludes between the live performances. Both video makers are also dancers and choreographers. Tony Silva composed all the music for the dance pieces and the videos using a wide variety of instruments and voice. (Listen) Purchase your tickets today at (212) 420-8877
